Have you been introduced to these little guys yet?? You may recognize them from the television ad way back in the 90’s, Chia Pets! Well, in fact they are seeds and contain a great deal of nutrients as well as grow “hair” on pottery animals and heads! Hahaha!!
These amazing seeds are an amazing source of fibre, protein, fat (omega-3s), manganese, phosphorus, potassium, calcium and anti-oxidants just to name a few. Plus they are gluten free! They are originally from Guatemala and Mexico, where they have been eating them for centuries. How does one eat them? I say you could add them to any food! Whether it be salads, parfaits, yogurt, cereal, smoothies, muffins or even granola and breads!
I personally make a chia seed pudding for breakfast daily, along with a few fixings and voila! A great nutrient balanced breakfast :)
(Sorry for the short post guys, but I’m still in a half cast, but hopefully for not too long!
