How cool is this?!

My soccer team last week got to play on the field at McMahon Stadium!! It was pretty awesome being on the same field as the Calgary Stampeders :)

Why am I talking to you about my soccer team? Because it’s a way for me to stay active while doing something I enjoy doing. When you find something that you like doing to stay active, it no longer becomes a chore, it becomes a fun ...activity and you are much more likely to be motivated to do it. Whether it is playing a sport, going to the gym, playing with your kids/grandkids or even dancing in the living room while watching Ellen (I had one client that that’s what she decided to do as she loved to dance while watching the show!).

There are many ways for us to increase our physical activity nowadays. Is there a class that you are interested in trying? Or an activity that has peaked your interest? Why not give it a try? If you are unwilling to do it alone, there are many groups/organizations that you can choose from that are full of people in the same boat. This way it’s organized for you and all you have to do is meet up.

Being physically active can give you many health benefits from lowering blood pressure, cholesterol, managing your blood sugars to improving your mood, helping with anxiety/stress and even depression!

This relates back to a post I did a couple of weeks ago, where our minds can be a barrier, something stopping us from trying something new or just going to a new location for an activity. If this is you, then you need to ask yourself one question…what’s the worst thing that can happen? If you think that people will laugh at you for having two feet or that you can’t keep up with them, everyone starts at the same point when you think about it. Everyone has been there. BUT it is from my experience and the experience of others, the majority of people that are active, are some of the best people out there!! We will do our best to help you and encourage you. Why? Because we want you to succeed, we want you to love the activity the way we love it! So don’t automatically think that we will judge you, give us and being active a chance!
